This policy aims to make clear Effective Energy Solutions’ stance on modern slavery and how it will ensure compliance with this stance within its workforce and supply chain.
The policy ownership belongs to the Senior Management Team. The day to day management of the policy and its provisions will rest with Business Unit Managers.
This policy applies to every employee and every subcontractor under Effective Energy Solutions’ control. Suppliers that are working on our behalf or in our name, through outsourcing of services, processes or any business activity, will be required to act consistently with this policy. Effective Energy Solutions expects its partners to adopt a similar policy, and adequate procedures.
The scope of this policy is business wide and applies to all Effective Energy Solutions operations including businesses and legal entities.
Modern Slavery is a crime and a gross violation of fundamental human rights. Modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, human trafficking and forced labour and unlawful child labour. Effective Energy Solutions has a zero tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity and transparency in all business dealings and to putting effective systems and controls in place to safeguard any form of modern slavery taking place within the business or supply chain.
We require all of our suppliers to adhere to the standards set out by the International Labour Organisation as regards the employment of children and young people. In particular: (a) children must not be recruited before they have reached the age of completion of compulsory schooling, and in any case not before the age of 15, and (b) those under 18 must not be required to perform hazardous duties.
Compliance with this Policy
All Effective Energy Solutions employees must read, understand and comply with this policy. All employees are encouraged to raise concerns regarding any breaches of this policy with the Board of Directors. Effective Energy Solutions operates a robust recruitment procedure, including conducting eligibility to work in the UK checks for all employees to safeguard against human trafficking or individuals being forced to work against their will.
Effective Energy Solutions operates a supplier policy and maintains a preferred supplier list. We conduct due diligence on all suppliers before allowing them to become a preferred supplier. This due diligence includes an online search to ensure that a particular organisation has never been convicted of offences relating to modern slavery. Our anti-slavery policy forms part of our contract with all suppliers and they are required to confirm that no part of their business operations contradicts this policy.
